Water is not only what flows—it can also be still, the thin and clear layer of ice on a lake in deep winter, the moment when snow sits on the water's surface before it begins to melt.
Blue turquoise is the color of the lake itself—not the blue of the sea, but the blue of a highland lake soaked in the sky—deep and quiet, like water frozen under the ice, waiting for spring to release it; freshwater pearls are snowflakes landing on the lake's surface—irregular, soft, each one a fragment descending from the winter sky, frozen in the instant it is caught by the water; the steel-plated 18k gold is the light refracted beneath the surface—the thin golden line between snow and ice, lit by the dusk, warm yet contained.
