Ebony is the remains of the forest—not dead, but wood in another form, resting in darkness for millennia, waiting to be seen again; turquoise is the sky above the forest, frozen in stone—like a patch of blue pressed deep into the mountain, a sky that cannot be carried away by the wind; south red agate is the fire deep within the forest—the crimson that condensed after veins deep underground were forged and reforged by geological movement, like the last red leaf that never fell from an old tree.
